Around here, we Dream Big on most Sundays. It started as a letter to our email list and it's still that — a note from Kim about what we've been making, what we've been looking at, and whatever the week handed us. We're going to start keeping them here too, so nobody misses one.
Dear Cowgirls and Cowboys,
It's been a little quiet around here the last few weeks. That's because we've been heads-down on some new projects — and one of them has a whole lot of turquoise in it. I can't say much more yet. But I didn't want the last Sunday in August to go by without a Dream Big message.
The last Sunday before Labor Day. For me, that's the end of summer.
And this cowgirl showed up on the wall of a room we were building this week. I didn't put her there. She just appeared, and I haven't been able to stop looking at her since.

She isn't heading out and she isn't heading home. She's stopped at the top of something, looking back at ground she covered herself, in no hurry at all.
I've been doing the same thing this week. Thinking back to where this summer started and what I was dreaming about then. Some of it came true. Some of it brought a joy I didn't see coming. And some of it brought loss, the kind that doesn't ask your permission first.
Look at her and you can see it. Nothing she's wearing is new. The chaps have gone soft at the fringe, the leather's been sat in for years, and that hat earned its shape the hard way. None of it is trying to look expensive.
The only bright thing on her is the turquoise. And turquoise isn't something you wear out — it's the piece you keep. The one that gets handed down.
So before September gets here, pull up for a minute. Look back at what you crossed this summer. It's more than you think.
And find the turquoise in it. The one bright thing worth keeping.
Dream Big,
Kim
